On paper, I have of Master of Arts in French, the Bachelor of Arts that got me there, a certificate in Applied Project Management and a few online courses and BC Public Service courses. The French programs taught me a great deal about research, analysis, communication, and planning, the latter of which I really refined through the project management work. I also became fluent in French, which is nice.
What’s most valuable from those experiences is they prove I can devote the time and energy to a long program, and I haven’t stopped learning since. I have self-taught skills in administrative and organization tactics and software, as well as some of the fun “nice to haves” like graphic design, content management systems for website development, and video filming, editing, and production.
I have 10 years of experience in marketing and communications (six of which have been with the B.C. Government) and have built and modernized websites using several content management systems. I have also created print and digital collateral, ranging from brochures and flat sheets to social media content, blogs, and success stories, as well as the graphics and images to accompany them. I’ve led projects from start to finish, including creating strategies, tactics, and status reports. I am a big fan of organization and records management and have helped teams restructure their records and develop naming and filing conventions, as well as training and communications systems, to ensure continued clarity in their documents.
Oh yeah, I also like to garden.
